Hey everyone, freaking out a bit here. My 3-year-old lab mix, Buster, got into my craft supplies yesterday and chewed up some kind of rubber eraser or maybe a weird foam piece (I'm not even sure what it was). I found bits of it on the floor. This morning, I noticed he has a red, slightly raised spot about the size of a quarter on his lower belly. He's acting normal - eating, playing, pooping fine - but the spot looks weird and I'm worried about the rubber thing he ate. Should I rush him to the emergency vet or just monitor? I don't want to overreact but also don't want to risk it!

OMG, first - deep breaths! I'm not a vet (just a devoted dog mom who's been through some scares), but here's my two cents. With foreign object ingestion + a new skin issue, I'd definitely call your regular vet ASAP when they open. The spot could be unrelated (allergy, bug bite) or maybe a reaction to something in the rubber. Watch for vomiting, lethargy, or changes in poop. If the spot grows, oozes, or he starts acting off, emergency vet for sure. Better safe than sorry! My golden once ate a sock and we ended up at the ER - turned out okay but I don't mess around with unknown stuff anymore.

lol reptiles are way less dramatic about eating weird stuff but i feel you. my bearded dragon once ate a fake plant leaf and was fine. but dogs are different obvi. that spot sounds sketchy tho. could be a hot spot or something from stress? but since he ate something unknown, i'd agree with vetvicky - get a pro opinion. not a vet disclaimer of course! maybe check if the rubber had any chemicals listed? keep us posted!
