Hey everyone! My Chow Chow, Bear, is about 70 lbs and super strong when we go on walks. I've gone through 3 harnesses in the past year because he either chews through them or they just don't hold up. Looking for something durable that won't chafe his thick fur. Bonus points if it's on sale somewhere! What's worked for your big breeds?

Not a dog person myself (I've got bearded dragons!), but my sister has a mastiff and swears by the Ruffwear Front Range harness. She says it distributes pressure well and has lasted 2+ years. Might be worth checking Chewy or Petco for deals? Also - have you considered a gentle leader? Might help with the pulling!

lol coming from the aquarium world where we worry about filter flow rates, not leash strength! But my neighbor has a husky and uses a Kurgo Tru-Fit Smart harness - says the metal buckles are chew-resistant. Saw it on Amazon Warehouse deals last week for like 30% off. Good luck!

Thanks both! Patty - I tried a gentle leader but Bear hated it, kept rubbing his face on the ground 😂 Larry - gonna check those Kurgo deals right now! Anyone have experience with the Julius-K9 harness? Keep seeing ads for it...

My reptile-store coworker uses Julius-K9 for her german shepherd! She says the side handle is great for control, but warns the sizing runs small for fluffy breeds. Measure Bear's chest carefully! Also - Petsmart often has 20% off coupons if you sign up for their texts.
