Hey everyone, desperate dog owner here! My 2-year-old German Shepherd mix destroys EVERY toy I buy him within minutes. I've tried rubber balls, rope toys, even those 'tough' chew toys from the pet store - nothing lasts. He's not aggressive, just has insane chewing power and gets bored easily. I'm tired of wasting money and worried about him swallowing pieces. Any recommendations for truly indestructible toys? Bonus if they're engaging enough to keep him busy for more than 5 minutes!

lol welcome to the club! My cats shred everything too but in a more... surgical way. For dogs tho, my friend swears by Kong Extreme toys - the black ones. She has a pitbull that chews through everything and those last months apparently. Also maybe try freezing treats inside? Makes it harder and keeps them busy longer. Just watch the calories if you do peanut butter!

OMG I feel you! My Akita is the same - she treats toys like they're made of paper. Here's what works for us: 1) GoughNuts toys (they have a safety indicator if they chew through to the red layer), 2) West Paw Zogoflex toys (dishwasher safe!), and 3) honestly... antlers. Real deer antlers last FOREVER. Just get the right size for your dog. Also, rotate toys so he doesn't get bored of the same one!

As a fussy cat owner, I can't relate to dog destruction (my Persians just glare at toys), but my neighbor's lab is similar. She uses those rubber chuckit balls - says they're the only thing that survives fetch sessions. Also, have you tried mental stimulation instead? Puzzle feeders might tire him out without the chewing. Just a thought!

Adding to my last post - avoid anything with seams or stitching! Those are weak points. Also, Nylabone makes some heavy-duty versions that might work. But seriously, antlers. Game changer. Just supervise at first to make sure he doesn't get too aggressive with it. Good luck!
