Hey everyone, I'm at my wit's end! My 2-year-old German Shepherd mix destroys EVERY toy I give him within minutes. I've tried rubber balls, rope toys, plush toys with 'tough' claims - he shreds them all. I'm worried about him swallowing pieces, plus it's getting expensive! Does anyone have experience with toys that can actually survive a power chewer? Bonus if they're engaging enough to keep him busy for a while. Thanks in advance!

As a fussy cat owner, I can't help much with dog toys, but I sympathize! My cat rejects 90% of toys I buy. Have you tried those black Kong toys? I've heard they're practically indestructible from dog-owning friends. Maybe look into toys made from firehose material too? Just make sure whatever you get doesn't have small parts that could come off.

Reptile enthusiast here, so different world, but my friend's pitbull has similar issues. She swears by GoughNuts toys - they have a safety indicator if the dog chews through to the inner layer. Also, have you considered non-toy alternatives? My friend sometimes gives her dog frozen carrots or specially designed antlers (supervised of course!). Might save your wallet while satisfying the chewing urge.

Following up on my last post - I asked my neighbor with a chewer. She recommended West Paw designs (specifically the Zogoflex line) and says they have a great replacement guarantee if your dog manages to destroy them. Also, maybe try rotating toys? Keep some put away so they stay 'new' and interesting longer. My cat gets bored of things quickly too, so I rotate his feather wands and mice.
