My cat ate a weird bug and now has a red spot on her belly - emergency vet time??

Hey everyone, my 3-year-old tabby Mittens just ate a big shiny beetle she found in the backyard (gross, I know). Now I noticed a small red spot on her belly near where she was grooming. She's acting normal - eating, playing, etc. - but I'm freaking out a bit. Should I rush her to the emergency vet or wait to see my regular vet tomorrow? Pic of the spot attached (it's about the size of a dime).

Oh no! First - I'm not a vet, just a dog mom who's been through some pet emergencies. With my corgi, any new spot plus weird eating incident would have me calling the vet ASAP. Is the spot raised? Hot to the touch? Any chance it's a bite/sting from the bug? Better safe than sorry - maybe at least call an emergency line for advice?

Thanks Vicky! Spot isn't raised and doesn't seem hot. Mittens doesn't mind me touching it. Update: she just threw up a little (clear liquid with bug parts, sorry TMI). Now I'm really worried. My regular vet opens in 8 hours... but emergency vet is 45 min away. Ugh why do cats eat everything??

OP here again - took her to emergency vet. They said likely mild allergic reaction to the bug, gave her a shot and said watch for swelling/difficulty breathing. $300 later but worth it for peace of mind! Thanks for the nudge everyone. Lesson learned: beetle buffet = vet bill. 😅
