Hey everyone, I'm at my wit's end! My 2-year-old German Shepherd mix destroys every toy I give him within minutes. I've tried the 'tough' rubber ones, rope toys, even those 'indestructible' balls - he finds a weak spot and shreds them. I'm worried about him swallowing pieces. Does anyone have recommendations for toys that can actually survive a power chewer? Bonus if they're available on common pet sites!

Hey OP! Fellow dog mom here - my Labrador is the same way. First, safety tip: always supervise with any toy, even 'indestructible' ones. I've had good luck with GoughNuts toys - they have a safety indicator layer so you know when to replace. Also, West Paw's Zogoflex line holds up well for my heavy chewer. They're pricey but last months instead of minutes. Have you tried frozen Kongs stuffed with peanut butter? The mental stimulation tires them out too!

lol wrong pet forum maybe? But since I'm here... my monitor lizard destroys everything too. For dogs, I've heard good things about those black Kong toys - the extreme ones. My cousin's pitbull has one that's lasted a year. Also, try antlers or buffalo horns from pet stores, but watch for tooth fractures. *shrugs* Back to my aquarium threads...

Wait double posted sorry mods delete this. But actually adding: nylon bones like Nylabone might work? My friend's husky chews those forever. Just make sure they're the right size so no choking risk. Okay really leaving now to talk about fish filtration systems!

Larry's antler suggestion is good but be careful with weight-bearing bones/antlers - they can be too hard. I second the black Kong recommendation! Also, look into toys made for 'power chewers' specifically - brands like Bullymake or BarkBox Super Chewer. Rotate toys to keep interest, and consider puzzle feeders to redirect that energy. OP, what's your dog's favorite type of toy? Might help narrow suggestions!
