Hey everyone, I'm at my wit's end here. My 2-year-old German Shepherd mix, Thor, destroys EVERY toy I buy him within minutes. I've tried rubber balls, plush toys, rope toys - you name it, it's shredded. Even the 'indestructible' ones from pet stores last maybe 10 minutes. I'm tired of wasting money and worried he might swallow pieces. Does anyone have recommendations for ACTUALLY indestructible toys? Budget isn't really an issue if it actually works. Thanks in advance!

lol welcome to the club! My cats are destructive too but in a more... surgical way. They'll methodically disembowel any plush toy. For dogs though, my sister has a power chewer - she swears by those black Kong toys (the extreme ones). She stuffs them with peanut butter and freezes them, keeps her lab busy for hours. Also heard good things about GoughNuts toys - they have a safety indicator so you know when to replace. Good luck! P.S. Maybe get a cat instead? Less destructive (usually) 😉

I feel you OP. My cat Mr. Whiskers is ridiculously fussy AND destructive - only likes specific textures but then destroys them. For dogs though, I've researched this for a friend. You might want to try: 1) West Paw Zogoflex toys (they're recyclable!), 2) Nylabone DuraChew (my friend's pitbull took months to make a dent), or 3) honestly, sometimes the best 'toy' is a big frozen beef bone from the butcher (supervised of course). Just avoid anything with seams or weak points. Also, how much exercise is Thor getting? Sometimes extra destruction = pent up energy.

Oops sorry double post but wanted to add: Have you tried those treat-dispensing puzzle toys? Not exactly indestructible but they engage the brain so maybe less focus on destruction? My fussy cat ignores them but dogs usually love. The Starmark Bob-a-Lot is pretty sturdy. Also, check reviews specifically for power chewers - regular 'durable' ratings don't cut it for dogs like yours!

Thanks everyone! CorgiClara851 - I'll look into those GoughNuts, the safety indicator sounds smart. CollieChris460 - great point about exercise, he gets 2 walks daily but maybe needs more mental stimulation. The frozen bone idea is interesting (and cheap!). Going to order a Kong Extreme and a West Paw toy to test. Will report back if they survive Thor's wrath! Appreciate the help 🙏
